Recently a person with a Vodafone uniform showed at my door, and said that since there had been changes in the law, the TV connection costs could no longer be arranged by the landlord, and each tenant had to make his own Cable connection contract.

He said that even if I dont have any TV in my package (I only had the Red Internet & Phone 250), since I receive the Internet via cable, it was still necessary to generate a TV Connect contract. I have seen some posts about this on the forums, so OK.

But then the problems start: I had the Red contract for more than 24 months already, so I was on a monthly basis. Because of this, I asked many times, if this would not be for 24 months minimum time, and the person assured that this was not the case.

But now, I received a Giga TV box by post, and when I looked at MeinVodafone, I saw that not only did he sign me up for the TV Connect contract (12.99 eur), but additinonally signed me up for Vodafone GigaTV Home Cable (14.99 eur) with an additional GigaTV Multiroom 1 Home Cable Box (5 eur) and additionally changed my existing Red 250 contract for a GigaZuhause 500 Kabel contract!!! All of those of course with a minimum running time of 2 years, until 2026. In the box I received, there are no contracts, or instructions to send back the items and cancel.

This happened on 25th October, so I am still within the time period for "Widerruf", I believe. But I wanted to ask, what is the correct course of action here? Should I cancel this contracts via "Widerrufsrecht" even if I did not order them at all? How do I complain against this scammer of a salesman, who said one thing, but then signed me up for many services?

My german is not good, so I appreciate the help of all here.

Thanks!!

Do the Wideruf right now! You were tricked by a provision hunter. If you don’t use TV the TV Connect contract is not necessary at all, your internet contract is all you need. If you in addition want to watch the basic TV (the same that was available to you until now, no matter if you used it), TV Connect is all you need. You can use this website:

Hi @Peter_Co, thanks for your fast answer. The only thing that now I am worried about, is that my old Red  Internet 250 is gone, so if I cancel the new GigaZuhause 500 Kabel contract, I will be left with nothing. If I dont cancel it, then I will be stuck with it 2 more years. They are installing Glasfaser in my street, so I actually was interested in changing my contract soon. Any idea what to do in this case?

That's why it is very important to use the correct terms. You don't cancel, you revoke! (In German: you don't do a Kündigung but a Widerruf). This means that everything goes back to how it was before, so your old contract would be re-installed.

Hi @Peter_Co , small update: The Widerruf page in the end just asked me to call via phone, so I reached out to Vodafone on Whatsapp. Took a couple of hours to get through, but eventually I could reach a very friendly english speaking agent who helped me cancel everything and even threw a little extra as apologies for the inconveniences.

In the end I think Vodafone handled the situation appropriately, such a shame that this third party salesmen have this tactics. I wish Vodafone cracked down on it, since it hurts their brand and reputation.

Thanks for your responses!, they were very helpful

Thanks for the update, I’m happy that it worked out for you. And yes, the whole system is questionable, as long as these people are paid based on how much they sell the doors to such trickery is wide open.
