WiFi keeps shutting down

Since recently my router started randomly (or not) shutting down wifi. Once shut down, it can only be restarted manually (via 192.169.0.1 or by pressing the button on the router). I think it started on one of the hot days this week (the temperature was above 36 degrees in the apartment), but the problem is that now it keeps doing that even when the temperature is back to normal. The router is not in a cramped space, it's just under the table, not facing a wall on any side.

"Band steering" is disabled in the settings, and I tried disabling 5GHz mode altogether, but it did it again after that.

when does your new contract starts?

i guess you are right. it's 19.8, according to this line (right?)

Red Internet & Phone 1000 Cable U Expected activation: 08/19/2022

also, the settings page shows this cable information (1mbs downstream)

Kind regards

ok it's working with the fritz router since the 19th, but there's now a new small problem. occasionally it loses internet connection for like 5 seconds or so. i don't think it's the cable, since i tried several cables, even bought a new cat8 one, the physical connection is solid (it "snaps"), and no physical disturbance happens when it disconnects.

there are these events in the system log: e1rexpress: Intel(R) I211 Gigabit Network Connection Network link is disconnected.

seems like some people on the internet also have this e1rexpress problem (i have aorus x570 mb). so far there doesn't seem to ba a clear solution on the forums. i guess in my case it was triggered by switching to higher speed, or some other router-network adapter interplay. i tried downloading newer i211 drivers directly from intel's site; let's see if it helps.

Hello rumpelstiltskin,

Has the new Intel driver brought any improvement with the connection?

i also disabled "energy efficient ethernet" in the driver's settings (following an advice from the internet), and so far i haven't seen the problem anymore, but it's been less than a day in this configuration, so it's probably too early to declare it a success.

Then feel free to test for a while longer and then write whether it stays that way.

Many greetings Jana
