Downgrading from "Red Internet & Phone 400 Cable" to "200"?

Hello there and pardon my English 😓

I've been on a "Red Internet & Phone 400 Cable" for almost a year now and I almost never had the chance to utiliize the full bandwidth.

I was wondering if I have the option to downgrade to the cheaper "Red Internet & Phone 200 Cable" plan?

Cheers.

Hello zieppa,

I looked at your contract. You can change to the tariff Red Internet & Phone 200 Cable on 05.12.2019 for 39,99 Euro per month. If you want I can help you. Just let me know.

Best regards

Nancy

Thank you so much Nancy.

I rather stay at my current plan as the price difference is not considerable.

Is there any chance I can get the actual 400mbps or at least something around that bandwidth? My speed tests usually settle in the range of 20mbps to 45mbps  which is why I thought my plan does not worth it.

Best.

Hello zieppa,

then you know first of all that it would be possible.

How did you do your speed tests, via WLAN or LAN? Please test via LAN connection at different times. Do you not reach the full bandwidth or all day only at certain times of the day?

Best regards

Nancy

Hi again Nancy,

Sorry for the late reply, I was trying to get my hand on an ethernet cable.

My past speed tests was sometimes even hitting the ~400mbps, but only rarely. So I think it's most probably not a wireless signal problem but a limited shared bandwidth at most times of the day; mornings, evenings.

I also did a few tests with the ethernet cable, and it's no different. All around ~50mbps max.

Cheers and thanks for looking into this.

Hello zieppa,

when exactly did you do the tests, rather on weekends in the morning or on weekdays? You wrote there were times when you reached 400 mbps, do you remember when this happened?

Kind regards,

Claudia

Hi Claudia,

With the ethernet cable, I've done it in the evening after work around 7pm, I guess.

The few times I actually hit the ~400mbps with wlan, was in the first few months that I got the service, I don't really remember the time range.

Right now, on a Saturday ~21:30, I've ran three sequential tests and I'm having a considerably good connection:

1. Ping 41 ms
Download 297 Mbps
Upload 23 Mbps

2. Ping 42 ms
Download 151 Mbps
Upload 23 Mbps

3.  Ping 39 ms
Download 241 Mbps
Upload 23 Mbps

Problem is, this is a quality I get rarely.

Cheers,
And thanks for looking into this.
