to further explain my problem. everything had been working perfectly with the internet for sometime now but on monday there was an electrician in the basement of the building and thats when things went wrong. it could be a coinsidence but i feel like he might have tripped something or perhaps accidentaly broke a wire.
as per the forum insrtuctions here's more indepth detail of what we're working with:
contract: Red Internet & Phone 200 Cable
router: Fritzbox 6490
exact error: on fritzbox user interface (fritz.box) everything shows up as working except the cable connection that provides the internet. it shows as not recieving or sending any data but the wireless network still exists and can be connected to but provides no connection to the internet.
connection: my computer and the others are connected wirelessly through fritz box repeaters, I've removed the chance of them being the issue by connection directly to the main box both wirelessly and with an ethernet cable.
browser: chrome (tried it with safari as well though plus tried connecting with my phone and different laptops but no luck)
os: Mac OS High Sierra.
period of disruption: from Monday 3rd August 2020 onwards
state: Berlin / Brandenburg.
