band steering for device not working

I have Technicolor CGA4433DE router with Firmware-Version: 3.6.9-IMS-KDG

Band Steering activated

Configured band steering for my mobile phone on 2.4 GHz

When phone is near to router it camp on 5 GHz Wifi band

Why?

because the 5 ghz wifi is much better than the old 2,4 ghz !

u have the option 2 use different names (ssid) 4 the wifi bands - so your device will definitely connect and stay in the wif band u choose

doing this I know will work but then I have no more band steering

anyway the behaviour I observed isn´t it a misbehaviour of the router?
