SIP data: landline telephony for your own router

SIP stands for "Session Initiation Protocol." It is used in VoIP telephony. You need it when making landline calls. If you are using your own router, you will need to set up the landline telephony yourself. Here’s how you do it.  ℹ️Use your browser plugin to translate linked websites in this article.

For the telephone connection, you need the access data, also called SIP data. These are automatically created as soon as your new router is registered in our system. You can retrieve the data in MyVodafone or we optionally have it sent to you by mail.

Do you live in NRW, Hesse, or Baden-Württemberg? Then the setup works as follows:

1. Click on Telephony > Own Phone Numbers > New Phone Number in the user interface.
2. Select your provider from the list.
3. Enter your phone number.
4. Enter your username. (For Baden-Württemberg: The username is your phone number without the leading zero. For example, if your phone number is 0123456789, enter 123456789 as the username.)
5. Enter your password.
6. Enter your data under Registrar. Good to know: You can find this data in MyVodafone.
7. Click Next.
8. Confirm again by clicking Next on the summary page.

In all other federal states – here’s how it works with your FRITZ!Box, for example:

1. Connect your own router; our system will automatically detect it.
2. Connect your device (smartphone, tablet, laptop, or PC) to the router.
3. You will then be directed to the activation portal. Log in with your activation code and customer number. You received the activation code with your welcome documents.
• Good to know: After the FRITZ!Box is activated, you can find your login details in MyVodafone under Settings > SIP Data.
4. The MAC address of your router will be displayed in the activation portal. Simply confirm it.
   
   

Do you have a DSL/VDSL or FTTx contract?

Then you can easily set up your landline telephony via the router interface. You can find the SIP data for this in the welcome letter or in MyVodafone.

For SIP telephony, you might need the following data:

• Username: 02111234567 (Your phone number including area code)
• SIP Proxy: 0211.sip.arcor.de (Only enter/change the area code)
• SIP Domain Name: arcor.de
