Have you experienced this? It's only mid-month, but you’ve already used up your mobile data allowance. Now your internet speed is throttled. The good news: With Hotspots and Homespots, you’re well-connected everywhere – even without your own data. Our Vodafone network now consists of over 7 million Hotspots in Germany, and it's growing. With our Vodafone Hotspot Finder, you can find out where the nearest internet access point is. Whether you're sitting in the park or waiting for the next train.
Hotspot vs. Homespot: What’s the Difference?
A Hotspot is a type of cell where you connect your device via WiFi. You can always recognize our Hotspots by the WiFi names (SSID) such as Vodafone-Hotspot, Vodafone-Free WiFi, or Vodafone-Homespot.
In brief:
- Public, wireless internet access
- Anyone can use it – you don't need to be a Vodafone customer
- 30 minutes free per day
- For longer surfing, use a Vodafone Hotspot Ticket or a Hotspot Flat
Homespot:
With Homespots, the wireless internet access is not provided directly by Vodafone, but by you as a cable customer via your home cable router. A Homespot is essentially a Hotspot set up at home. The principle here is give and take: If you provide a Homespot, you can also use other Homespots.
In brief:
- Private, wireless internet access
- Only for Vodafone cable customers who offer their own Homespot
How to Activate and Deactivate Your Homespot
Activation:
With a Vodafone cable router, you automatically participate in the Homespot service. You don't need to do anything. Once your own Homespot is activated, you're part of the network. In return, you can surf on all other Homespots on the go at no extra cost with high speed.
Do you have a consumer contract that you signed before April 2013 in Baden-Württemberg, Hesse, or NRW? Then you automatically participate in the Vodafone Homespot service, unless you’ve opted out of activating your own Homespot.
Deactivation:
Don’t want to share your internet access anymore?
Then simply deactivate your Homespot. Here’s how:
- Log in to your MyVodafone portal
- Select the appropriate cable internet and landline contract
- Go to Devices & Settings and select Homespot in the next step
- Deactivate the Homespot service
- Restart your router
WLAN Hotspot Flat: For Those Who Want to Surf Longer at Hotspots
30 minutes go by quickly. That’s why you should activate our Hotspot Flat. This way, you can use all Hotspots nationwide without any time limit. This is available to Vodafone customers and also if you’re not with us yet. Here’s what you need to know:
For Vodafone customers:
- You have an internet and telephone or GigaTV contract with Vodafone
- You have a Vodafone cable router with a WiFi option (contracts until April 4, 2023), a Vodafone Station (from April 4, 2023), or a FRITZ!Box
- You pay €4.99 per month with the booked WiFi option or Vodafone Station (from April 4, 2023) or FRITZ!Box.
- You pay €9.99 per month without these options
- You pay €4.99 per month with a booked GigaTV product or app
- You can cancel with four weeks' notice
For everyone else:
- You pay €19.99 per month
- You can cancel with four weeks' notice
Instead of the Hotspot Flat, you can also purchase individual Hotspot Tickets. This allows you to surf at Vodafone WiFi Hotspots without data limits. Choose between one hour, one week, or one month.
