Good morning,

 

I am the person who previously opened a thread here in the forum, in order to write about a TV contract activation, without my consent. The TV issue was eventually resolved.

 

Today morning, I received a call from a local number unknown to me, which partially looks like +49911***11193. I could not fully understand what the caller was saying, but since he mentioned Vodafone, I was quick to tell him that I had not ordered any new package and that I am not expecting a new installation.

 

I eventually understood that it is only about checking the signal quality, since I have switched off the modem for some time now. I explained to him that I can be present towards the end of September, since I am absent now.

 

My questions are:

Is this a telephone number recognised by Vodafone?

If, when I get back, the signal and the modem work fine, should the technicial still do a signal check?

This service was not requested by me, will there be a charge if I tell the technician it is ok to come?

Hallo kunde12341,

 

the phone number probably belongs to the technician company.

 

The technician briefly checks your house system and takes measurements. If necessary, he levels the system properly. He does that to prepare the house connection for the gigabit future.

I just want to give an update:

 

I have seen that it is possible to check the MeinKabel customer portal under the Hilfe & Service section, and upon checking the following words are clearly visible:

 

Keine Störungsmeldung

 

I can verify that this is correct and that I have not requested a technician. Also it is good that nothing was activated by accident.

 

I still do not understand why the technician called me by himself and what kind of policies are followed.

 

I will activate the modem again in a few weeks by myself and check if the connection works well but as I said no assistance is needed now. You can also ignore my previous questions.

Hallo Tina,

 

the same number just called me a few minutes ago again, although it was not the same technician in person. I could catch the accent better this time and I understood the following:

 

There is a change of technology from analog to digital and he needs to come in order to measure the overall signal system again and make sure it works further.

I asked him and he said this brings no costs to me as an individual customer.

It is a more general technology upgrade I understood, the "gigabit future" that you mentioned.

 

I informed him of my absence and he said he will call me again towards the end of September.

I think that all I needed to know is now clear.
