No Internet for nearly 2 weeks, issues getting customer support person who speaks English...

Hello,

I apologize in advance as I am only able to speak and right fluently enough in English, so this post will be in English as a result.

I've been using Vodafone DSL for little over 2 years, and until recently it's been good.

However recently I was constantly getting small disconnects here and there, and had to call again and again and often with the help of a German coworker to speak to customer support to fix my problem.

Just under two weeks ago on an evening however, my internet completely broke down. I tried calling customer support multiple times only to find out that none of them spoke English, and all of them refused to redirect me to someone who does speak English. I spent several hours calling again and again until I finally got someone who spoke English to note my problem down, and he said there will be a technician checking my line next day.

The said technician never showed up, despite waiting at home for the full 6 hours the technician was scheduled to show up.

The upcoming week was an absolute nightmare of me relying upon my coworkers, hours at times, trying to get a hold of a representative to reschedule again and again for a technician to show up at my place to check the status of my internet, along with several more calls trying to get a hold of someone to activate my GigaGarantee data sim. I had to reschedule the technician visit 3 different times, because the person failed to show up at the appointed time.

An entire week has passed by before the technician showed up, did a check on my line and told me that the line was fine on his end, and that it may be a faulty modem that's causing the issue.

I called the customer support line right away to relay what the technician has said, and the person on the other side (English speaking customer support person, bless his soul!) said that it's already in the record and the technician will be contacting us within 24 to 48 hours after verifying on their side if it is a line issue or not.

Well, the technician did call at the tail end of the 48 hours mark, to verify what the technician has said, from me. It was obvious that my phone call from two days ago to tell them the exact same thing was completely lost in the process. I was furious, but at least the person said that a new replacement modem will be on its way and will arrive at my place in 2 to 3 days.

Three days past, and now on the eve of the 12th day without internet, I'm sitting here with an email from them that the replacement modem is finally being sent out. No doubt it'll take another two or three days before it actually gets to my place.

Given all of the above, the GigaGarantee data will run out soon (either in 4 days or within 10GB spending), and I spent another several hours of mine and my coworker's time trying to get more data loaded onto the sim card so that I won't be left without internet over the weekend, to no avail. The customer representatives kept sending us between the DSL technical support and the Call Ya customer support, with neither willing to help me with getting the data into the sim card.

So here I am, 12 days without internet, with by far the worst customer support experience I've had in a very long while. With the background above, the questions and comments I have are:

- Please, please, please, stop telling your customers to say "Operator" on the automatic call system to get an English speaking person, because it does not work. After 20th or so times I've been told that, and trying it again and again only to find out it still doesn't work, I feel very insulted now whenever someone on the phone tells me that.

- What happened to all the English speaking customer support representatives? Two years ago I chose Vodafone in the first place was because it had great English-speaking people in the customer support. Now 9 out of 10 times the person on the other side does not speak a word of English, and they usually sound smug about refusing my attempt to get someone who speaks English.

- What does it take for me to get a renewed data bundle for GigaGarantee? I have an active GigaGarantee 50 GB data bundle on my sim, which has about 10 GB and 4 days left on its time and I want this refreshed before weekend. Half the customer support person I talked to assures me that as soon as I get an SMS from Vodafone I just need to activate it through the link it sends, except the link points to https://center.vodafone.de and that website only shows me my current data bundle usage and time remaining, nothing else of use. There is no way to check if there will be a new data bundle available when I finish using the existing bundle.

Please, help me. These last few months I have lost so much faith in Vodafone's customer support, and if this keeps up I will have no choice but to just switch provider and never look back.

Well,

An update to this situation because maybe on the private message my desperation wasn't communicated clear enough...

Modem arrived, we tried plugging it in.

I cannot even get past the setup screen because the DSL connection keeps dropping and sends us right back to the start of the setup screen, over, and over, and over again.

Tomorrow will mark the 14th day of me not having a landline internet connection.

In three days or less I will run out of data on my sim card.

I do not want to have to call Vodafone customer support line just to waste another 2 or 3 hours of my or my coworker's time only to be told to wait for another technician visit.

I am genuinely at a loss as to what to do now.

Hello,

The moderator Jens-K has not responded to me at all yesterday even though I sent the person two separate messages on the 12th and the 13th, so I assume he's unable to help me.

Is there someone here who can help me or escalate my ticket's status? I still do not have internet even after getting the replacement modem - in fact I can't even set up my modem because during the setup the DSL keeps dropping, which causes me to go back to the beginning of the setup, over and again. The technician you sent already confirmed that the line is fine, which would mean it's something in your system that's messed up and causing me to not have connection for so long.

Please send help. Over 2 weeks of no internet now.

Hi mchoi,

we are not working 24/7 here. We reply as soon as possible but this is not a live chat.

The ticket has been reopened, my colleagues booked new mobile data and an appointment with the technician was made for December 18th.

Regards,

Jens

Yes, I had to call the hotline with the help of my coworker again because nobody on the hotline spoke English or wanted to redirect me to someone who did. Even after asking to have someone who spoke English call me back, I've so far had 1 callback from you who did speak English, out of almost 4 live hours of phone calls I had to make and receive so far (I checked my phone bill and all the call hours I've racked up this month on your number). There are couple of callbacks I've asked for and your colleagues supposedly booked, but I never got for two days of waiting and I had to call your number again.

I would have thought it common courtesy to update someone, let alone a customer, a day later at the latest on a live forum where multiple people are actively monitoring, but obviously based on your response I was mistaken. I have made my post above two days later, after not receiving any response from you or anyone else and having to call the hot line again.

My problem of not having my landline internet still isn't fixed after 2 weeks, a new technician service booked (given the track record, I somehow doubt he'll show up and I'll have waited at home for 6 hours for naught again), and just today someone called me once again not being able to speak a word of English.

I think I have every right to be furious and disappointed and anxious at this horrendous service I've been receiving.

I had the most bizarre and shocking call with a technician from Vodafone few moments ago.

The person, after being unable to solve the problem and refused to understand that the Telekom person who comes to check the line does not, and will not, check the modem because the modem belongs to Vodafone, rudely hung up  on my coworker who was speaking on my behalf in German and falsely marked the fault ticket as being cleared and done, even though we made it very clear that I was still having internet issues at my house.

We called the Vodafone hotline again to find a more sympathetic person willing to help with the issue and opened a new fault ticket, but fact remains that someone on the hotline falsely reported the fault ticket as being done, presumably out of spite or frustration, and that is just unacceptable.

I would like to know how to make a formal complaint with regards to this incident.

Incidentally, tomorrow marks the third week of me not having my landline internet.

Hi mchoi,

the Telekom technician reported that the issue has been solved.

The ticket then was closed automatically but it can be reopened easily. I don't know why my colleague opened a new one.

In some cases you have to reset and reactivate your modem after the Telekom solved issues on the line. If you have not done this yet, please try it.

Jens

Hello Jens-K,

I have already tried to reset and reactivate my modem after the Telekom checked and worked with issues on the line. And I can assure you the ticket was closed IMMEDIATELY AFTER the technician on your hotline hung up on my coworker, the day after the Telekom technician visited me. From the timing of the ticket closure I cannot help but suspect that it was the same rude technician who closed the ticket and falsely marked as it being resolved. If you need proof I can send you the screenshot captures of my phone log and my SMS log.

Please reopen the ticket. I would like to ensure that the length of the outage and all works done for it is properly recorded.

I'd also like to mention that someone is supposed to call me to arrange another visit from the technician, but I have not heard anything yet.

Regards,

mchoi
