Hi,
I am currently a vodafone customer for both phone and dsl. I am leaving Germany by the end of the month but I will not get a deregistration form until 7 days before leaving (current law).
Could you please tell me if I can cancel my contracts then straight away? I've read in some other topic that I would have to pay for 3 more months which sounds crazy as I am not going to be here to use it.
Also how should I proceed with cancelation? Do I have to send an official letter to Vodafone?
Thank you very much for help.

Yes, you do have to send a letter containing your de-registration to Vodafone in order to prove that you are leaving the country and be allowed to cancel your contract prematurely.

No, this is not crazy, this is German Telecommunications Law. Before this was changed to the way it is now (three months "on top" after cancellation and then end of story) you would have possibly been charged with the full sum until the regular end date of your contract, which could amout to quite a bit more.
