Pausing contract for 3 or more months

Hi people! I have a GigaKombi (Mobile contract + Red Internet & Phone 500 Cable). I had to relocate to a different city due to work (change of job, from Hamburg to Berlin) and the new place does not have a Cable possibility and is a temporary apartment for me which already has a DSL connection.

So firstly, I'd like to ask that is it possible that only Kabel contract can be paused for 3 or 4 months?

Secondly, is it possible to convert my Kable contract to DSL or GigaCube ?

Thanks and waiting for the answers and any guidance.

At first: It's not possible to pause a landline contract.

Second: If you move, you have to report a move - in case the contractually agreed service cannot be granted at the new location, your contract will end with a 3 months notice period starting by the day of your move notice or the day of your move as per official documentation (the later one counts). But you have to report the move!

Third: In case there is no cable contract possible, Vodafone offers that you can switch to a DSL contract and that the 3 months period will be shortened to the day the DSL contract becomes active, so that you don't have to pay for two contracts. But this is only valid if you opt for a (new) DSL contract from Vodafone - this offer is NOT valid in case you opt for another ISP or if your new apartment already uses a DSL line from another ISP.

And lastly: No - there is no such offer available to switch from a landline contract to a GigaCube contract - like it is for switching from cable to DSL in case of cable unavailability. So in case you opt for a GigaCube, the 3 months notice period will still remain and you'll have to pay for both - the running out cable contract AND the GigaCube contract.

Please also note that the GigaCube contracts are NOT eglible for the landline GigaKombi offers - thus your GigaKombi discount and anything bound to the GigaKombi (most likely additional high-speed data contingents) will end at the day your cable contract ends. This does not apply in case you switch to a DSL offer by Vodafone - as the DSL contracts are eglible for the same kind of landline GigaKombi offers as your cable contract was.

Hello HassanMussana,

It is much easier for you to inform us about your move via our moving service. reneromann has already explained everything else to you in detail.

@reneromann: thank you very much.

Best regards

Nancy

Hello @Nancy,

I'm in a similar situation with the relocation due to the job change (Berlin - Munich). My new home (it is a sub-rent) has a Vodafone cable connection registered to the current tenant already, and the costs will be included in the rent for me. It will be temporary housing, and in 2-3 months, I will move to another place, and the current tenant will move back expecting their Vodafone contract to be active. What options do I have to avoid paying for the service that I cannot use?
Thank you in advance.

If you would've read what I wrote before, you would know that you are required by law to pay for at least 3 months from the date of your move (or the date Vodafone receives your movement notice - the later one counts).

And moving to an appartment with an already exisiting internet line is NOT a valid resaon for a premature cancellation. It only matters if your current contract can be fullfilled or not - in case it can, your contract will move to that new address. The rule that Vodafone terminates the contract with the 3 months notice period if another Vodafone line exists is only good will by Vodafone and not something that is written in the law -- in order to get that cancellation by good will, you'll have to provide both, the new address as well as the customer details from the already existing line.
