Whatsapp/Skype Calling frequent disconnection.

Dear Support Team,

I am using "
Red Internet & Phone
1000 Cable" since 08 September 2020. It has been a great experince with streaming and downloading content until now. However, since the DAY 1 , I am facing tremendous problems with voice and video calling (WhatsApp/ Skype) when connected with my phone.
Connection simply drops after couple of minutes and it keeps on re-connecting  again and again until I am forced to switch to my personal data to continue the said call which is not only incovinient but also expensive.

Furthermore, voice calling from my phone works perfectly fine when connected to other router/s and connection/s.  I reinstalled the applications and /or updated them; but it was not helpful.

I have tried to be in touch with your collegues over a call several times, but it did not help ( they did not speak english).

I went through the solution discussed in above issues and I do not intend to purchase another device / Nest Router. It would be a great help to me if you could manage to trace down the RCA of this issue and help me out so that I can make voice calls from my phone ; using my wifi connection.

I am using Vodafone standard router which we get with new connection. Vodafone CGA4233DE. I also checked for any green/eco/etc. mode in the settings (expert mode) there is nothing like that. I reset the router to factory settings, tried switching firwall on/off. Nothing helped. 

 

Please have a look into it and help.

Hi,

I had same problem, but solved.

My package is Red Internet & Phone 100 Cable, with Frizbox 6660.

I noticed that my phone has this Whatsapp call interruptions only when connected to wifi on 5-GHz frequency band. But is working fine when connected on 2.4-GHz frequency band.

SOLUTION:

I forced my phone to connect to 2.4-GHz only, allowing other devices to connect to 5GHz, by:

  1. Logged in to http://fritz.box/
  2. Opened WIFI > WI-FI Network
  3. I enabled the option "Different names for the Wi-Fi networks on 2.4 and 5 GHz"
  4. I gave different names to each frequency network
  5. clicked "apply"
  6. Now on my smartphone, I logged in to the wifi with 2.4GHz, while on my laptop I connected to the other wifi.

I hope this solves it for you too.
