Fritz box 6490 and other modem compatibility

Hello

We recently connected with Vodafone Kabel and the provided modem. We are thinking about switching to our own Fritz Box 6490. I have read only article number 20002778 can be used. Why is this? Are there also problems trying to use other modems?

Also originally a technican was supposed to come to set up a DSL connection. He left within 5 minutes and did nothing. He was very rude. Where would the apporpriate place be to make a complaint?

Fritzbox 6490 devices with a different article number belong to an ISP and are not for sale. Such devices won't be activated in our net.
