Geforce Now too slow

Dear Vodafone!

I have Red Internet & Phone 200 Cable tariff, and I am easily reaching speeds between 100 and 160 mbps on my PC, having normal ping, and so on. Geforce Now connectivity test is also going well, showing more than 50 mbps, no frame drops and ping below 40, so fully in order. However, as long as I start playing, the streaming quality gets terrible and I am never reaching speeds more than 5-12 mbps, which is not sufficient for game streaming unfortunately. I wonder what could be the problem, considering the fact that all other services and websites (streaming videos, downloading games, etc) are working at good speeds and without any problems, and even the test connection with Geforce Now servers is showing perfect results? Is Vodafone throttling the game streaming bandwidth?

Best regards,

AK

Vodafone isn't throtteling - and as you already noticed, if other services work fine, it's neither your line nor the Vodafone network, but mostly the game streaming servers being too slow/overcrowded.

Thanks, Reneromann.

Well, I am not too sure about that, as I have also tested it several times from the office with another internet provider and it works like a charm... And at home with Vodafone I have tried it at different times, day and night and always having the same problem. I must be really unlucky if I only get to test it at home always exactly when the servers are overcrowded. 🙂 Could be a coincidence of course, but every time?! 🙂

Please note that it may be either the servers - but it can also be the peering from the Vodafone network to the servers. If you use another ISP, it's most probable that you use a completely different routing and thus the peering is different.

the problem might be Dual Stack Light.
Where you only have an public IPv6 and a private IPv4

Thanks!

Yeah, that's the common logic and I would normally think the same way, but why the connection test to Geforce Now servers is good literally every time? If there are server issues on NVidia side or if it is a matter of routing, the test shall be failing at least sometimes, I guess? 🙂 But it is always 50+ bmps (they don't show more, but I can see it is actually higher in resource meter), no flame drops and ping is below 40.

Thanks.

But this would also affect other services and not only GeForce Now, or?
