English speaker 24 month contract 1 year autorenewal surprise

Hi,

I bought a premium phone on Feb 2018 with a 24 month contract. To my surprise the contract apparently autorenewed on November 2019 for 1 more year, and now you claim I am locked into the contract for another year. I am a foreign student in Germany and I have no certainty that I will be here after August 2020, and the current contract with the extension you claim ends in February 2021.

I have 3 Big problems with this issue:

1. Customer Service so far has beein Incredibly bad. I would recommend anyone to stay away from Vodafone given my experience.  Given my current status, I will certainly not use Vodafone again, and I dislike it so much so far that Im sure throughout life i will be recommending people I know to not use it.

I went to the store where I opened the contract 2 weeks ago, and they assured me that the original contract could be cancelled  and I could change to CallYa Service and that i just had to call #1212  and that the number was in English (they refused to help me do the call there.) That at a Vodafone store they cannot help you change to CallYa service or provide you accurate information is beyond STUPID and Unacceptable.

Then I called #1212, of course its not English so I  looked up another number and called 800 4440643991, someone answered me (he was nice but not helpful), and he told me to call #1212 again and to SAY "Operator" so a person would answer me. That did not work of course, so I ended receiving help from the CallYa whatsapp messaging system. After some exchanges they told me about the Autorenewal of the contract, and passed me on to another department which asked me my Password , and after validating my password they informed me that the service was only available in German and  that I had to open a new thread and explain the problem here in the forum instead. No one so far has been able to tell me the monthly costs of the renewed contract which is extremely unacceptable.

2. Automatic autorenewal: why did Vodafone not contact me about the autorenewal? As of today, i dont even know what tariff you claim i have to pay. The tariff i was paying was extremely high already for the service I get, but i had agreed to it for ONLY 24 MONTHS. Extending the contract for 1 more year is a COMPLETE RIP OFF. Moreover, I got a message saying I will be paying 15 Euros just this week so you are claiming to have locked me into a contract where I will get more ripped off!

Please inform me of what is the exact rate you say I will be paying from now on!

3. I have read similar posts in the forum about non german speakers. We are in Germany, so I dont expect people to speak English, but if VODAFONE takes English Speaking customers and lets them sign a contract in German, please make sure to enable your sales team to be able to offer an accurate service in English. When i initially opened the contract I was surprised about how much my tariff increased in at around month 7.

Proposed solution: let me change to callya service or give me a good service rate and let me terminate the contract on August 2020 at not additional cost. Current Vodafone offered service rates are much cheaper than what I was paying before so it would be stupid and unfair that I, a good customer of 2 years, who has been tricked to into extending the contract for 1 more year, would be paying around 30-50 euros a month (since so far Customer Service has not been able to tell me how much the autorenew tariff is) for 4gbs of data + 1vodafone pass +etc.

Im not interested in getting more data or "more services" at my current rate. So far I'm just interested in getting out of this contract as soon as possible without having to pay for months I wont use and/or extremely high fees for what I get.

I hope that you are more helpful than your colleagues, and I hope to hear from you.

But why didn't you write a cancellation within your cancellation period? It's correct that your contract is extended 12 months more. The cancellation period is 3 monts before your contract ends regular.

Contract start: Feb 2018

Contract valid till: Feb 2020 (24 monts)

Last termination time: Nov 2019
Btw to find on your invoice and also in your MeinVodafone app / portal)

Long term contracts (mobile, electricity, insurances ec.) in Germany always extended another year or certain period when those contracts don't cancelled within the cancellation period.

Hi Mav,

Obviously I had no idea about this; why would I want to pay 50 euros per month for low volume data and garbage customer service for 1 more year?  Even so more when I will not be able to use it. It seems that this is not an isolated case by the way; just look in the forum. Like I said before, I was surprised when my original contract's monthly fee went from 20something Euros to 53.

I want to think that the Vodafone Shop that sold me the contract in 2018 had no ill intent in duping me into buying something I didnt want to buy. However, after going last week to the SAME store and being told that it was possible to change to CallYa while not mentioning anything at all that the contract had been extended I am not sympathetic to them. Perhaps they're just extremely negligent in doing their job but I am equally dismayed at the bad customer service. I just want to have nothing to do with Vodafone anymore and I suggest everyone does the same.
