Cancel Contract Moving Overseas

Hello,

I will be leaving Germany at the end of August. Obviously, I will no longer need my Cable Internet from Vodafone, so I would like to cancel it. I will deregister from Germany after I know what my physical address will be in the long run in the UK. I will provide the relevant confirmation of this deregistration to ensure timely completion of the contract termination. Please let me know if you need any additional details.

Best,

Bruce

Your reading and my reading of the law are different. My understanding is that Vodafone can prolong the contract for no more than 3 months. It's at your discretion whether to do this. Bilking people out of money when they leave Germany has a long tradition, eh?

In any event I cannot use the bank information provided to pay the amount outstanding. You will have to accept personal checks from my American bank account.

Which means I need a postal address to send the checks to.

And a reference number and you have to agree to accept whatever amount I convert from USD to Euro on the coversion rate of the day.

Hi blichte1,

he utterance or suggestion is absolutely out of place here. If you should express yourself again in this way here, we will pass this on accordingly and take actions.

Otherwise, I had written everything on the subject and explained to you how the process is, what you make of it and the consequences of it, you alone bear.

Regards

Thomas

I do not understand what is upsetting you about my language.

I asked a simple question:

Where do I send my check so that I might pay my debt to Vodafone? I cannot use the bank information you claim to have provided with my US bank, so you will receive a personal check. As I said, I will use the conversion rate at the time I wrote the check from Euros to Dollars. This is not a joke. This is the way my bank works.

Hi blichte1,

but it's not gonna work. Payment is only possible by bank transfer. Cheques will not be accepted.

My bank does not allow international bank transfers. A check is the only way I can pay for any future bills since I am no longer in Germany, no longer have a German bank account, and no longer using the service I am supposedly paying for.

Or you could provide me with a mailing address to submit a personal check. The German government maintains a clearing house for checks, Vodafone's bank is responsible for processing these. They are a legitimate form of payment, and they are the ONLY form I have access to because I am not local to my small, regional bank in the US.
