Help! New WiFi box with flashing @ sign and won't connect to the internet.

Hi! 

I have just got a new box and although the WiFi LED light is solid and working (I can connect my laptop to it), the @ sign is flashing and says the modem won't connect to the internet. I can't call the german helplines as my phone is English and am having a bit of a nightmare with it. I've seen others report this problem and that a simple techinian visit fixes all? Can someone (a moderator) please help me book one in or suggest something else??!!!! I'm desperate.
