Hi,
I am sorry this is in English but I need all the help I can get urgently. I just had two guys come to my door claiming to be from vodafone, wearing vodafone shirts etc. seemed legit to me. I use vodafone cable internet at home. They said the sockets needed updating and needed to check the infrastructure for it. I stupidly allowed them in, they look at the socket, asked for my customer number but they could not find me on their system. Frusturated, they left. Is this a common practice or was I a potential subject for a scam or worse, a burglary bait or anything similar? Please let me know if anyone experienced anything similar.
Thanks!
Edit: @Ag1730 Moved in the right board. Best regards Kurtler

Usually these guys are only trying to sell you things - they are NOT technicians.
And no, they are NOT from Vodafone - they are all self-employed and make money by just selling contracts.

This sounds suspicious. Vodafone generally schedules appointments. Requiring your customer number to update sockets seems odd. It's good they left, but definitely contact Vodafone directly to verify. Maybe run a virus scan on your devices just in case, and change your wifi password. It's like facing a T-Rex in the Dinosaur Game, best to be cautious and react fast. Report this incident to Vodafone and the police immediately to prevent future scams.

You're right to be concerned — this sounds suspicious and could very well have been a scam attempt or a way to scout for a burglary. While legitimate Vodafone technicians may occasionally visit homes, they usually:
Schedule appointments in advance
Carry official ID cards or documentation
Don't ask for sensitive account info like your customer number at the door
Letting them in without verification could have put you at risk, so it’s important now to:
Report the incident to Vodafone immediately to verify if any technicians were sent to your address.
Contact local authorities or your community watch to make a report — they may be aware of similar cases.
Watch for any unusual activity at your home or in the area, and make sure your doors and windows are secure.
Avoid sharing personal info with unverified visitors in the future wadifa maroc always ask for ID and confirm appointments through official channels.
