Telephone not working (English)

Hi, I have recntly upgraded to a new plan with Vodafone and it included a land line, so I went and purchased a gigaset phone AS690A, it had a connector that did not match the vodafone modem (non standard ?) so I bought a connector that does match from amazon. 

The problem is I have no dial tone nor can I call anyone or anyone can call me on this. I dont see much of an option to enable it as the whole interface is in German with no option to select english international or such. Therefore I am posting here hoping that someone can help guide me the right direction to get this working.

You should use the cable provided with telephone and the TAE adapter provided with the cable router.

Anyhow you need to connect the phone to the Tel1 outlet - as the Tel2 outlet is NOT activated!

I have just tried it but no sorry, its not working regardless of the Tel 1 or Tel 2, there is no dial tone. Also I dont have a TAE Adapter here with this router either. Its from Vodafone.

what kind of connection do you use? DSL or cable?

Which bandwidth?

Which modem do you use?

Hi, I use cabel, I am unsure of the modem as its the grey one that is a bit designer modem from the looks, provided by vodafone last year in January. Any way I can find the info you need? I was on the 25 euro plan and was upgraded to the 29 euro one that included a land line. Sorry if I dont have the information but I can find it.  🙂

you can find the tariff information in your contract details and order confirmation.

The phone itself won't work on the router. You also need a DECT base station.

Hi there, Stephan. So my tarif is 2play 250 and its worth 29 euros a month. So now, the router I have is the typical I was given when I first connected to vodafone, the grey one. It has 2 ports for the phone and I dont have any adapters for it to connect to the phone cable.

Now, to get my phone working, you mean I need a DECT Base station in addition to the phone? Is that the only solution? And can I kindly ask you to suggest me a few phones that may work with this router? or Maybe includes the DECT Base I suppose?

Yes you need a DECT base station and a TAE adapter. Regarding phones we can't give you any advice, but maybe someone here in the community has a recommendation for you. Regarding adapters send me a PM:

Okay, I have just sent a message to Ida. 

I have already returned the phone I had to Amazon. So let me ask my question differentlly, When I am looking for a phone to buy, what do I have to look for? That it says it has a DECT Base? Thats all? I connect the DECT Base to the modem and the handset works? Simple as that?
