'Retention' / Kundenruckgewinnung Deals When My Internet Contract Finishes?

Hi there,

My Cable Internet contract will be finished in a couple of months (after 2 years). I was thinking of switching to a DSL option with another company as it's a lot cheaper.

I have phoned up customer service about getting a new 'angebot'. However my spoken German is not the best, so I don't want to miss any details when speaking over the phone (e.g. would my WLAN router continue to be free as it is now?).

Is there any way for a 'Retention deal' to be sent via e-mail?

Also, all these awesome deals I see for 'new' Vodafone customers.... If I cancel my contract, at what stage would I be considered a 'new' customer again? Immediately after I'm no longer a Vodafone internet customer?
