Hello everyone,
First of all, apologies for writing in English, however I cannot properly describe the issue with my level of German. I already sent an email to Kundenservice, but they told me to open a thread here instead.
At the start of this year (March) I moved out of Germany, and already in December 2017 sent a letter to Vodafone asking for a contract cancellation. I received a notice that my contract had already been prolonged till January 2019 and that I should return the modem or there will be additional charges. When I was leaving in March I told a German proxy to return the modem and send my Abmeldebestaetigung, which he did. I was still getting charged for the service after I left, and for the first 3 months (April-May-June) I didn't think much of it since I read here that this is often the case after abrupt contract cancellation. However, I continued getting charged for this service till now (October), at which point both me and my German proxy sent all relevant documents to Kundenservice again showing that I informed Vodafone on time of my cancellation and have moved out of Germany. I then received an email saying that my contract was officially cancelled only now (in October) and they are unable to refund me for the last 4 months. I was offered no explanation as to why I could not get this refunded, even though I clearly stated both in my December letter, by returning the modem and through my Abmeldebestaetigung that I was not in the country using this service anymore. As Kundenservice suggested, I now direct this question to the forum. Why was my contract not cancelled in March as originally stated? Is it possible to receive this money back, and if not then why? Is my contract now fully cancelled or will I still be charged 3 more months for a service I haven't been using since March?
Regards,
P.

Hi Thomas,
Thank you for the information. Is this a new contract termination confirmation or is this the one that was sent last week? I have already received both an e-mail and paper-mail confirmation that the contract has been officially cancelled in October. Or does this now include a clarification on what went wrong with the contract cancellation in March? Also one of my original questions to Kundenservice was if it was possible to get a refund for the last few months after providing all necessary proof that I was not in the country and requested a contract termination from March onward already last December?

Hallo PK0,
we receive the confirmation of the move only in August. The contract would then have had to be terminated with 3 months' notice. The complaint management decided to terminate the contract directly. A refund is therefore not possible.

Thomas

Hi Thomas,
I have sent my termination letter 3 months prior to my leave in December 2017, and have received a letter from Vodafone confirming that my letter was received. Was this not processed through the system? The document you received in August clearly states I've been out of the country since the end of March, so why were the charges for those 4 months prior (April, May, June, July) not counted in this 3 month period, and instead of having the contract immediately terminated I was charged an additional 3 months?

P.

Hi PK0,
so that the contract can be terminated with the period of 3 months, we need the proof. We got it in August and then the 3 months will start.

Thomas
