Moving out of Germany

Hello all,

This question has been asked here before but I would like to know if someone can help with my specific case. My DSL and Landline contract with Vodafone expires only on 20.12.2019. Looks like it was auto-extended for 1 year a while back. I am now leaving Germany and moving back to India end of this week and I already have the Abmeldung from Burgeramt.

My question now is, if I write to Vodafone now to cancel my contract, how much will I be expected to pay (my current monthly tariff is 24.99.

If the new tenant agrees to take over my internet connection, would that save me from paying any extra costs? Would he start with a new discounted monthly tariff or start with 24.99 ?

Finally, what is the contact number for Vodafone customer care? Both 0800 444066 0098 and  0800 505 45 07 are not working!

Regards,

Ashok

Hi @AshokKumarC,

I guess it's a combi contract (DSL and landline phone). If so, you can cancel your contract with a special termination right.
Write your cancellation and refer to the German law TKG 46, passage 8
https://www.gesetze-im-internet.de/tkg_2004/__46.html

Please write when you will leave Germany and put in also a copy of your Abmeldung document. You have to pay for three further months the contract fee.

The best way to cancel your contract it's by using the contact form with a logged in status. Then you'll get a response mail (Dialogue ID) as a confirmation that VF got your email.

Hello AshokKumarC,

when you are using a DSL contract and move to another country, you can have a special termination. To speed up the process, please send me a pivate message with your customer number, your customer password and your confirmation that you are leaving Germany.

If you use a router for rent, please note, that you have to send it back to us within 14 days after cancellation.

BR,

Dany

Hi Mav1976, Hi DanyG,

Thank you for the quick response. I have shared the details with DanyG. It does look like my EasyBox is rented equipment. I assume I would receive the receiver address for the router to be sent back.

On the other hand, would it be possible to just transfer the connection / contract / device, etc to the new tenant? I already spoke to him and he wouldn't mind taking over my connection but if it requires much more paper work and effort, I would rather just cancel my connection and return the router.

Thanks again for the support!

Regards,

Ashok

Dear all,

Just letting you know that I approached Vodafone through whatsapp support and they provided a form to change ownership. I will proceed with that route. Thanks for the support anyway.

I wish you all a great new year.

Regards,

Ashok
