Hallo,

I took over the Vodafone DSL 50 contract in my current WG, Dortmund, after the old minimum period was over. The contract's new minimum period ends on February, 2027.

Now I have to moveout to an WG apartment in Soest, where there is already an internet connection.  I still don't know the kind of internet connection and the provider in the new Apartment, which i have requested. Is it possible to cancel the current contract prematurely? What can i do to cancel my current contract?

1) If the new connection is Vodafone DSL

2) If the new connection is DSL from another provider

3) If it is a cable connection

I have read through other threads that it can be canceled by applying for a move, but it is not clear for me in what kind of situations it is possible for a DSL connection.

Advices from you will be highly appreciated.

Thank you.

Hallo,

Vielen Dank.

The telecommunications act only has one possibilty for a premature cancellation if you move - and this is in case the current contract cannot be fullfilled as agreed upon on the new location. There are no exceptions in the law for any already existing internet lines at the new location.

Yet Vodafone also agrees on a premature cancellation of the (s)lower of both contracts if both are Vodafone contracts.

If the existing contract anyhow is from a different ISP, there will be no premature cancellation possible and the contract will move with its minimum term in case it can be fullfilled at the new location nevertheless of the existing line.

So: Report a move and if the other contract is a Vodafone contract, include its customer / contract number - Vodafone will then check what will happen. But you cannot just cancel - that's how it was written in the law.

Thankyou @reneromann . Now I've got a clear idea of what can be done.
