Hi, I cannot write a fluent German. So I apologize for this.
I have problems to use my Router with some videogames on my PC that allow the multiplayer sessions.
I had to forward the ports (TCP and UDP) in my Fritzbox! 6490 Cable. Furthermore I created new rules in the Windows 10 Firewall. I can connect myself with other server (around the world) but I cannot create my server and let the other connect with me. I cannot even connect with my own server like a client even if I see the server service in the server list.
I read somewhere that this could be a problem linked to the IP address (IP4v/IP6v) but I am not sure of course and it is the reason of my question. Could it be true and if so how can I solve it?
Thanks
Alessandro

Hello, Djangopass,
our boxes run on DS-Lite. I think the problem is that you need an IPv4. There are two solutions:
You take a cable router from us and operate your own WLAN router behind it. Our cable router must then run in bridge mode. This way you get an IPv4.
The other way is, you buy your own Fritzbox. This is also possible. Our Fritzbox doesn't support bridgemode, so solution one can't be done.
Best regards

Hi,
first of all thank you very much.
So let me summarize.
With the Fritzbox I rented from you (6490 Cable) I cannot do anything. Is that correct?
If I buy my own Fritzbox, it can work. If so which model? Is it easy then to configure it?
Thanks a lot
Cheers

I also read that a solution could be that you provide me a pubblic IPv4. Is it correct?

Hello Djangopass,
that's so right.
You can buy a Fritzbox in free trade. I advise against Ebay and similar sites. They are sometimes used and that can lead to problems.
With the Fritzbox the 6430, the 6490 (with the article number 2000 2778) or the 6590 goes.

This is because the Fritzbox you provide has different FW inside that implement the DS-Lite and the one that I buy has not?
If I get the IP Static adress paying additionally, will it solve the problem?

Hello Djangopass,
a fixed IP is only possible with a business connection. All our boxes run on DS-Lite.

Hi,
To be honest I want to know technically why the Fritzbox I buy should be different of the one I rent by you, before to spend 200Euro.
Why are they different? Have they different SW? The one you rent is customized?
Thanks

Hi,
I talked with an expert and I did some reserches on internet and I understand that the problem is exactly that I have not a IPv4 that you should provide to me.
My necessity is also to connect remotely with my PC that acts like a server.
So I am here to ask you gently to solve my problem. I paying montly a discrete amount of money and I do not want limitation.
Otherwise I need of course to look for other provider.
Thanks in advance
Best regards

Hello Djangopass,
you can choose the preferred standard (for example DualStack or IPv4) with an own Fritzbox. Your Internet contract allows you to access the Internet, there is no specification that you should get an IPv4 address.
Kind regards,
Claudia
