Hello there,
Hope you don't mind me writing in English.
I'm on a "Red Internet & Phone 400 Cable" subscription and I'm experiencing frequent and heavy timeouts during the day and even at late hours that is interrupting my work from home as well as my gaming experience. Voice/Video calls drop, games freeze, webpages don't load.
This is not a wlan issue, I even tested this using an ethernet cable and still, the timeouts happen. Resetting the cable modem helps sometimes, but sometimes it doesn't. Not sure if it's related.
Can any of the mods please kindly look into this for me? Hope the disconnection logs are there in my profile.
Viele Grüße.

Went back online for few minutes. Now the docsis is offline.
Sorry for too many posts. Just trying to provide as much evidence as possible.

Hello zieppa,
what's the current status on your side? I just checked your access, your modem has all upstreams and downstreams right now.
Kind regards,
Claudia

Hi Claudia,
Thanks for getting back to me & looking into my line.
It's currently stable. It was also stable yesterday. But I'd like to stress on the sporadic nature of this problem. The fact that it's stable now, doesn't necessarily mean that the problem is fixed. It might go down or start throttling in an hour or tomorrow afternoon when I have a work meeting. It's been on & off like this for the past 5 months. Some weeks stable, some weeks continuously horrible.

Hello zieppa,
which interval did you choose for the Pingplotter? Did you use a direct ethernet connection? How was the connection in the past 24 hours?
Kind regards
Claudia

Good day Claudia,
Thanks for following up.
It was set to "auto focus" and a "1sec interval". All my pingplotter reports are captured while connected to the ethernet port of the Vodafone station.
The connection in the past 24h was almost always stable. Has anything changed recently on Vodafone side of things?
Have a very good day ahead.

Top of the morning @Claudia, @Martin59, @Moni_GK,
Hope mentioning you directly is fine.
Just wanted to let you know that after 2 days of almost stable connection, the packet loss situation is now back this morning. It continues like that during the day, I'm gonna need to cancel all my scheduled meetings.

I am going to try out the new router and see if it makes a difference. Can't say my hopes are high to be honest.
Have a good day ahead.

Hi,
is the packetloss still there after disconnecting the router from power for 3 minutes?

Hi @Wallace,
Thanks for following up on this.
The packet loss is usually and transiently gone after such a hard reset. But my experience shows that on "bad days", it's just a matter of minutes or hours for the packet loss to happen again.
Cheers, and keep safe.

Hey,
in that case, can you just get back to us? Currently it looks fine.

Morning @Tobias 👋
Thanks for following up on this.
I didn't get any answers to my question above. Was there something done by Vodafone recently? The timeouts & packet lost sessions are significantly decreased but are experienced "lightly" from time to time.
My family and I have experienced the past few as "good internet days" generally, but "light timeouts & packet lost" plus "2-3 complete disconnections" have already happened. I was waiting for a bad day to report back, but if you look at the pingplotter reports I'm attaching, you'll see that while the connection was usable it's still far from perfect. These light timeouts cause the video calls & games to lag.

I'm returning the old router back. What we could safely conclude is that the router was not a problem.
I would deeply appreciate your further help in discovering & fixing these instabilities. If the next step from your point of view is an on-site inspection of the network, I'd appreciate if you could explain how would it fit the sporadic nature of this problem and if I need to pay for technician's visit if s/he happens to visit in a timeframe that these timeouts are not happening.
Have a very good day ahead,
Viele Grüße.
