Hi, I am recently having some speed problems on my cable internet. I'd be glad if you could help me.
Internet speed is critical for my work, since I work as a software engineer.
You can find the information below:
12555, Berlin
Red Internet & Phone 400 Cable
FRITZ!Box 6590 Cable
Eigenes Gerät (my own device)
Lately I have very slow internet connectivity to some targets. A particular target is a Hetzner server with IP: 176.9.126.1**
Speedtest: https://www.speedtest.net/result/11469575158
PingPlotter:
Both LAN (ethernet) and WLAN devices are affected
All browsers, also the command-line
Windows 10, Ubuntu Linux, iOS (all OSes)
Some time in April. Since then the issue is permanent

Thanks!

Hello utkuoezdemir,
we don't give support for own devices and cannot check the line properly when it is connected. Please connect our loan device and make a pingplotter with it via ethernet. Is only Hetzner affected?
Kind regards,
Claudia

Hi Claudia,
I switched to the router Vodafone lent to me and did the speed tests again. It showed interesting results - some of the speed tests were very slow, like averaging around 2-3Mbps, while other tests to the same server, same IP were getting the full speed - around 430Mbps (I did the speed tests using iperf3 to a server I own hosted by Hetzner).
It was like 6-7 times out of 10 the full speed, 3 or 4 times out of 10 slow speed. My guess is it was related to the different routes my connection followed each time.
Then I switched back to my own router (FB 6590), factory resetted it and went through Vodafone's 3rd party modem activation process again.
After doing that, I started getting the full speeds again - on each and every test this time.
I don't know if the factory reset or reactivation solved the issue, but at the moment the issue is resolved.
I will reopen a ticket if I have the issue repeats in the future. Thanks for your help.
Best,
Utku
