Cable

We have a vodafone router , on the highest speed. The wifi works fine next to the router but doesn't connect or drops the connection from 10 metres distance. We have installed ethernet(fritz repeater 1200 and tplink) boosters for both computers and when connected the speed is ok (50-100 mps download and 30 upload) but far from what is advertised or promised.

I am have changed all the settings on the laptop so the device won't go to sleep/turn off as if it does then the connection will be lost on the wifi and ethernet. Every morning i now need to do a factory reset to get it to connect to the ethernet booster and laptop wifi. This is incredibly frustrating. How can i get the laptop and ethernet to stop dropping off especially overnight

Hello Oierocket,

first of all, welcome to our community. Nice to have you here.

Did it run better before? The Wi-Fi quality can be negatively affected by many external factors. These include not only the structural condition of the flat, but also the Wi-Fi networks of the neighbours or electrical devices in the vicinity. 10 metres can be a lot depending on the structural condition.

Therefore, even short distances can be restricted if, for example, the neighbours' networks "interfere".

Have a look here: Optimize Wi-Fi

Under the link you will find other few tips on how to optimise your Wi-Fi.

Best regards

Tina
