Hi,

I went to a Vodafone shop last November to let them know that I would like to finish my Vodafone contract by 31.03.2019. The attendant told me that it would not be a problem because I was informing more than 3 months in advance. However, I received a letter which states that my contract will finish until 01.08.2019. Furthermore, the reason why I want to end my contract by 31.03.2018 is because I will leave Germany by such a date. 

Could you please explain me why did you provide me a different date to the one that I told you?

The 3 months begin the earliest with the date you leave Germany - even if you inform Vodafone before. That's the rule that has been given by law for premature cancellations of landline contracts if the new address cannot be served.

 

So if you move out of Germany on 31.03.2018, you'll have to provide a proof like the deregistration documents (provided by local authorities) and send them to Vodafone. On reception, Vodafone will switch your cancellation from a regular one (that's what you have received by now because you could not provide proof of movement) to a premature one and the contract will end on 30.06.2018 (3 months after 31.03.2018). You'll have to pay for these 3 months, even if you cannot use the contract any more.
