Hi,
As my German is not so good, the last few days I encountered multiple levels of disappointment.
I woke up on Sunday and my internet was not working. I have something that is called Red Internet & Phone 50 Cable. The initial problem was to reach any deal of what to do in case of Internet outrage. While I was able to proceed with this I found really difficult to arrange a technician visit. I finally was able to set up one, for Thursday (tomorrow) but now I got the info that I need to provide a key to a special room where all the cables are, and this will be probably not possible because my bounding owners are not giving me such option.
Besides that, I'm pretty sure that it's nothing related to cables because:
When I turn off my modem and turn it on again I can observe that it is able to connect to the outside world.
I know that because when I plug off the cable light described on the modem as the internet starts to be red.
When I plug it again it blinks for a few seconds and then it's going white (behavior saying that connection was established).
When I plug RJ-45 cable into my modem, the default gateway is not working (192.168.0.1), actually not much is happening, Windows is saying "Unidentified network" "No Internet".
My assumption would be here that DHCP is dead and this crappy modem is not able to properly set up a network and assign IPs.
I testes it and set static IP 192.168.0.100 to my computer, mask 255.255.255.0, and default gateway as described 192.168.0.1, that's to this I was able to ping my modem, the managed panel was not working.
1. Base on that I think that this device is broken, and I wonder how the process of replacing it with a new one is working?
2. Should I cancel tomorrow's technician visit because I can't get to the cable room? Or it could be skipped?
3. Modem was never damaged, it doesn't have any signs of usage. Is it necessary to get a technician to my apartment to verify its state?
4. Will the technician be able to verify that the device is broken and will replace it while visiting? Or he will just tell me that I need to continue to contact Vodafone?
Can someone describe what I could do? I'm working from home, so this internet is really crucial in my life. I'm really disappointed in the lack of professionalism on all levels.
Best regards,
Aleksandra

do you have a contract with (former) Unitymedia or Vodafone Kabel Deutschland? If the latter, please send me a private message with your customer number, your name, full address and the birth date of the contract owner. Leave a short reply here in this thread afterwards.
Kind regards,
