Please allow me to write in English (a German translation using Google translation is below).  I am writing to ask you to help me on terminating my contracts for both DSL and mobile as of January 23, 2019. I am leaving Germany on that day. 

 

So far, I have done the followings to make sure the termination of contracts:

 

  • On January 14, 2019 I have made two separate termination requests via online (Vodafone Dialog ID: [***] and Vodafone Dialog ID: [***] immediately after I deregistered from the city of Munich. 
  • On January 17, 2019 I have sent a written letter to the customer service to the following address (Vodafone GmbH, Kundenservice, 40875 Ratingen).
  • All actions were accompanied by my deregistration and flight documents.

 

I am not in Germany anymore (returning to my home in South Korea). As far as I understand, you will normally reply to the above address in Germany that is mentioned in the contract. But I will not be able to receive anything from next week. I am really worried about how I can make sure that the contracts are terminated (or at least the procedure started).

 

Under this circumstance, I have two more questions:

 

  1. I will have to close my bank account from which monthly fees are automatically extracted no later than January 23, 2019. I also know that I will have to pay some extra fee for this premature termination. What and how should I do? (The best way for me is to know the exact amount of money for the remaining monthly fee and premature termination fee and a bank account where I can transfer those money, unless we can figure out this issue by January 23.)
  2. Is this a right address to return the router: Vodafone Kabel Deutschland GmbH, c/o DHL Parcel, Am Tower 222, 90475 Nürnberg. I will return the router on January 23.

Aber ich werde ab nächster Woche nichts mehr erhalten können. Ich bin wirklich besorgt darüber, wie ich sicherstellen kann, dass die Verträge gekündigt werden (oder zumindest das Verfahren gestartet wird).

 

Unter diesen Umständen habe ich zwei weitere Fragen:

Hey KyunSooKim,

normally its not possible to cancle a mobile contract early.
Since the contract for both simcards has a runtime till 3rd march 2020 - this would mean roughly 1000 euros for the tarif in the next 13 months...

I will do you a favor & cancle the mobile contract a year early on the 3rd march 2019.
This means you have just to pay the fee's for the time from the 15th January till 3rd march.
At 77 Euros a month , this means an estimated total of 129,16 Euro from now till the end of the contracts.
This is a sign of goodwill. I whish you all the best for your personal future outside of germany.

 

If possible please leave your bankaccount open for 3 more months.

since you've sent a private message to my colleagues i took a closer look into your customeraccount.

I don't see any cancellation letter yet - if you send the letter by the 17th January , it may reach us today.

I've cancelled the dsl contract to the 4th February 2019 & sent you a letter with the return adress.

Leaving Germany is reason to cancle your mobile contract early. A cancellation is possible to the regular contract enddate in 2020.

I guess my colleagues will send you a confirmation mail soon.

Since there will be further bills (atleast a last one for the dsl contract) please leave your bank account active.

I did receive the confirmation of the DSL cancellation--Thank You!!. I will send the router to the address you mentioned. 

 

I think I can leave my bank account for a couple of month. Since it will be somewhat difficult to close account from abroad without directly going to the bank (I guess), it will be very nice to know approximately how much the last bill would be. Then I can leave that amount of money and forget about the bank account.  

 

Can you explain further on the termination of mobile contract?

I don't get what you mean!

 

I hope we can handle this termination process before I leave Germany tomorrow morning!

I will leave the bank account active for the next 3 months with enough amount of money, as you guided.

I am very glad to leave Germany with putting everything behind.

I have a question about this theme.
I've made a contract on 16.05.2017 for internet,and it edns on 15.05.2019 now i want to cancel the contract,so I've made Kündigung and only that i'm knowing is that,if i want to cancel the contract i must send Kündigung 3 months berofe the contract end date that's on 15.02.2019.
So i must send Kündigung specially on 15.02.2019 or i can send some day earlier maybe 12.02 13.02 ?

Hi Tashov,

 

the 15.02. is the last possible day of termination. So there she should already be with us. You can also send the notice now. That does not matter in this case. It may not be only after the 15.02.

I live near Aalen, so can i take it the Kündigung to Vodafone Shop in Aalen, or take it in Deutsche Post Filiale and send ti to Ferdinand Braun Platz 1 40549 Düsseldorf.

Hi Tashov,

 

what kind of contract do you have? The address where the letter has to go depends on this. In the shop I would not deliver that.
