Hello,

I bought a used cable router to use with O2, but I was told it's a rented router for Vodafone, and I need to request it to be released. I have been told by the seller that the router should not be registered to an active contract. Do I have any options? Would it be possible to release the router from Vodafone? I tried to call customer service, but everything required a customer number, and I'm not a customer.

what kind of router did you buy?

It's a Fritzbox 6660. Article number 2000 2932.

this article number does not belong to a retail fritzbox

it is a rental device and therefore cannot be activated

contact the seller and try to get your money back

the seller was not allowed to sell his renal device because the owner of this 6660 is still Vodafone

Is it really not possible to release it from Vodafone then? Or is it at least possible to use it with Vodafone still? Or is the router compeltely useless?

if the router is rented, wouldn't the original owner still need to pay monthly and thus keep paying monthly fees?

if his contract end he has to pay penalty fee

but he never owns the router even if he had payed the fee

I assume the fee is at least comparable to a new router, so I do not understand what the benefit of selling a rented router is.
