Vodafone station: IPv6 host exposure doesn't work

Hi everyone,
I'm using the Vodafone Station as my router at home. I have been trying to set up IPv6 port exposure and it doesn't work. Here's what I did:
- I have a device connected to the router listening on connections to port xyz.
- I set up port forwarding on the router with the listening device's MAC address, UDP protocol, and port xyz.
- I tried connecting to the device using the device's IPv6 address from outside my network. With the vodafone station's firewall active, it doesn't work. With the firewall inactive, it does work.

So everything is setup up correctly, except that the router does not correctly perform the port forwarding that I configured. I have seen many people report the same problems, it seems like this is due to a firmware bug in the router where the UDP protocol is not forwarded. The way I see it, these are the options:
- Vodafone fixes their firmware -> unfortunately unlikely
- I turn off my firewall -> not going to do it for security reasons
- The vodafone station allows me to do IPv4 port forwarding

Thus I'd like to know how/who/where I can ask for the third option.

PS: I have posted this question a few times already because somehow it keeps disappearing from the forum and the link to the page of the question no longer works. I don't want to assume that it is being deleted or archived without proof, but if that is somehow the case, please extend me the courtesy of informing me why.

I understand but the other post here is about my internet service sometimes being down. This post is about IPv6 host exposure not working on the router. These are completely different topics: IPv6 host exposure doesn't work even when the router has an internet connection. Because of this, multiple posts make sense to me. Furthermore, the answer that I got on the other post only mentioned the problem with the internet connection ("I'm sorry that your connection went down so often. Were your colleagues able to fix the problem in the return channel in the meantime"). I can't believe you're looking into the IPv6 host exposure problem if you don't tell me. Thus I would kindly like to ask that you answer my question here about IPv6 host exposure.

If you mean turning off the firewall is the only way to make it work, then I think it's not. There is also the option to activate Dual Stack, as you can see here. I would like to request Dual Stack to be activated for my home network. Either that or the firmware in the router gets fixed, since turning off the firewall is a massive security risk and only works for 24 hours anyway.

Hello,

A switch to dual stack is only available in the business contract.

If you want dual stack, there are 2 options in your contract:

1. an own Fritzbox

2. the conversion of the Vodafone station and the Brigdemode and an own router behind it.

Thank you for the information. To be clear, I don't want dual stack directly, I don't need IPv4 port forwarding: IPv6 host exposure is enough for me.

What I would like is devices from the internet to be able to access my home network. And I would like this to be done securely. So I'm ok with any solution that achieves this and doesn't require me to disable the firewall nor buy a new router.

Saying, that "unfortunately there is no other option. Sorry" is your one and only solution?!?! Turning off the complete Firewall for the Router is in your mind a valid option??? (In my case I had to do this to get my instance in Foundry VTT to work) Therefore I can also Say "Sorry, Vodafone! Are you serious?!" and immediatlely ask the question "Are you sure that this is the only solution?" In my opinion it´s quite a shame, to offer a service that 1) doesn´t work and 2) no one cares to even think about to fix it. As a customer who pays money for your service I can only say: Please, put some effort into this to fix it!

Is it that I sound rude? I think not, because in my opinion it´s your job that your options - namely a working IPv6 host exposure - should be working effortlessly - and not to say "unfortunately there is no other option. Sorry".

Because these bugs are irrelevant for most of the customers that only want to surf the internet a bit and don't need that kind of extra functions. If you need them, get yourself your own cable router and/or switch to the rental FritzBoxes -- but as this bug (as so many others) have been in the firmware of the Vodafone Stations for so long, I doubt that they ever will get fixed.
