Vodafone Docsis 3.1 and USB hard disk

Hi,

In the conditions of the contract, it was clear I could connect a hard disk to the new Vodafone Docsis 3.1 9 01.02.068.11.EURO.PC20).

I just made a rearrangement at home to be able to connect a central hard disk (needed for the home office setup). After everything was connected and the cables were properly routed, I found there is no option on the router page to config the hard disk access.

Researching in the Vodafone forum gave me no result since it seems many users complain for the same reason, they are waiting years, yes years, for a firmware update to enable the USB port.

How can we solve it? it is clearly a violation of the terms and conditions of my contract.

There is currently no way to use the USB port.

And that doesn't violate the terms of the contract. Because no functioning USB port is guaranteed in the contract terms.

No, the standard router does NOT come with any kind of USB functionality.

The USB sharing functionality is only given if the HomeBox option is booked - but then you'll get a different router, most presumably a FritzBox 6591. Only those FritzBoxes will have the USB sharing function - the standard routers do not.

I would strongly suggest that you get yourself a "real" NAS device like a QNap as routers aren't meant to be used for hard drive sharing (especially not with multiple users and access levels). The sharing functionality of routers (even of FritzBoxes) as well as the speed is more a "better USB stick" than a real NAS.

Sorry, you are right, is not in the contract, it was in the advertising, where it was specified like this:

USB 3.0 Schnittstellen für externe Geräte.

There were no special conditions or upgrades needed for the USB 3.0 mentioned in the communication of the service for this device (Arris TG344DE).

In the DIRECTIVE 2006/114/EC OF THE EUROPEAN PARLIAMENT AND OF THE COUNCIL is clear that the advertising should match with the services-good offered to the customers.
