Hi,

I currently have an internet kabel contract, I'm going to be moving around between home and Frankfurt for a while, could I put the contract on hold until I get back or until I settle down?

No, there's no thing as "holding" of landline contracts.

You have to report a move and the contract will move with you in case the contract can be fullfilled at the new address -or- the contract will be cancelled with a 3 months period starting by the day you move but the earliest by the day you notice Vodafone about your move.
