I moved to a place with an existing Vodafone contract, so I need to cancel mine.

Hello,

I have a Vodafone Cable contract that's expiring in May 2022, however, I had to move out of my previous flat because the owner is required to renovate the place for the next 6 months.

Thankfully, I managed to find a room in a student dorm. So I called Vodafone to cancel my contract, they told me to send an email request and I have yet to receive an answer. I was also been told to try the "Umzug" form, but that only increased my fees, and didn't cancel the contract.

I was informed by customer support that I cannot cancel the contract until the end of it, and they mentioned that it can only be canceled (with a three months fee) if I moved outside of Germany, or moved into a place with an existing Vodafone contract. The latter is my case.

I've been calling and requesting the cancellation since mid-April, and I'm still paying the monthly fees which are really straining my budget as a student.

I'd be very happy if someone can help me with the cancellation process 🙂

Hi Bash-Z,

i have taken a look at this. You moved into a dorm right? But there is no overall contract for Internet & Phone. There is only a business connection for a foundation and this is certainly not supplied to the entire dormitory.

Hello Thomas,

The building was an old big house, but now it's used as a dorm. Deutsch-Nordische Burse (the dorm) is partially funded by 'The Förderkreis' members, which I assume is the foundation you mentioned.

There's only one connection in the attic, which has the existing contract. That connection is distributed to the rooms through WiFi access points on each floor of the building. So rooms don't have the infrastructure for individual contracts.

Otherwise, Vodafone customer support advised me to move the contract to the new address and simply plug the cable router. But I soon found out there's nothing to plug into.

we now terminate the contract with a notice period of 3 months. Starting from 15.04. and confirm this again.

I want to confirm this, I just need to send back the router with DHL to Vodafone before the three months period is finished. Is that correct?
